Strategy
Throughout my career, I have focused on applying business thinking to various industries. I enjoy diving into data and finding the hidden trends most people do not see. From there comes my favourite part: strategising what an organisation should do based on its current goals and overall position.
These are some examples completed as a student that showcase my strategic thinking and business analysis skillset.
Family Entertainment Centres in the United States
A deep-dive analysis of Family Entertainment Centres (FECs) and their current position in the greater Location-Based Experience (LBE) industry, focusing specifically on the business climate of the US market.
Afterward, I pitch a concept for an FEC called the Grid that is not tied to any existing IP or brand. I create strategies in order to maximise the profitability of this venture while considering future market demands.
Orchid Peak
This was a proposed overhaul of the Sky100 observation deck at the International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong. We redesigned the entire space, creating a more cohesive story that highlighted the unique beauty of Hong Kong, using the theme of “Harmonious Opposites”. As part of our initial research, we spoke with Hong Kong natives and tourists to understand what they loved about the city and confirm our translations were faithful to the language.
Disney – Small Experience Economy
This is a look into the current stated goals by The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) and how it can remain competitive within the growing experience industry. Specifically, I focus on how TWDC can move into smaller experiences that complement its flagship theme parks and resorts.
Paramount: Future-Proof Entertainment
An analysis of Paramount Global and how it can leverage existing brands and recent success to rise to become a leader in entertainment. I discuss scenarios that will grow the corporation, with one strategy being a renewed approach to physical experiences. The infographic here looks at the digital side and how Paramount can leverage its recent success to propel itself to the top.
Fixit
This is a proposal for a fictional startup based in Chicago, IL. The concept was pitched as “Uber for home repairs”. Here is a quote I wrote as a hook for our business pitch:
Being a homeowner is the ultimate marker of the American Dream. However, disaster can strike at a moment’s notice. Sometimes it’s a leaking pipe, other times it’s a tree falling through the roof into the living room. Once you make sure everyone is safe, it’s time for the second headache: finding a contractor. Who are you going to call?
Universal – Analysing the System
This is a systems analysis of Universal Parks & Resorts and its relationship with the Wizarding World. Though successful, it has led to systemic issues such as uneven investment and lowered quality of non-Wizarding World areas. To regain this lost revenue, a systems-level solution is needed.
The Themed Entertainment Industry is rapidly growing. You need experiences that will attract and retain guests for years to come. The first step is hiring the right team. If you’re ready to take the next step, get in touch.
